Best town when travelling by car

Hi

We will be renting a car from Bergamo airport and driving to Lake Como. Which town is most accessible by car? I have seen that some of the roads are narrow and scary? We are happy to use ferries once we get to our base?

Thanks

Any town or village.

The roads are not narrow and scary to anyone who can drive in the Yorkshire dales.

Use www.viamichelin.com for driving times and routes from Aeroporto di Orio al Serio (the official name of Bergamo airport).

Hi

During the high season the roads west of the Lake, north of Como are very busy and they are narrow, so progress will be slow. From Bergamo either Lecco, Bellagio or Como might be excellent venture points, Bellagio being the most central one and worth staying a day or two. From there you may use the ferries which are plenty and easy and offer beautiful views.
