Need advise for a day trip to switzerland from Varenna

Any suggestions for the most satisfying day trip Switzerland from Varenna? I've seen a lot of info on Lugano and St. Moritz, anything else?

Those two are the towns typically accessible with relative ease from Lake Como.

Lugano and St.Moritz are the best options for daytrip to Switzerland. Bellinzona is another option, but not so special.

Lugano is close by but it's location on Lake Lugano is similar to Lake Como, and the language is Italian. You won't really notice you're in another country.

St.Moritz is different: truly high-alpine setting, with spectacular nature. Snowcapped mountains and amidst alpine lakes. Language is German and Raeto-Romanic (4th language of Switserland). Don't expect a pretty alpine village though, St.Moritz has become a bit of an small and ugly city. Focus is on wintersports (of the extremely glitzy sort), summer is less crowded.
