Enough time?

Enough time?

We will arrive in Milan at Porta Garibaldi at 12:42 and need to catch the train to Zurich leaving

at 13:25 from Milano Centrale.

Is 43 minutes enough time to go from Porta Garibaldi to Milano Centrale? We will take a taxi

and know it's a quick ride, but realize time will be short. Too short????

Advice on the best way to go from Florence to Zurich? (Can't leave Florence before 10:30 am).

Thanks.

1. Re: Enough time?

The options from Florence to Zurich are the fast train with a change of trains at Milano Centrale. The total trip time is 5hrs51min. cost 122 euros www.trenitalia.com

The air flight option from Florence airport is Swiss Airlines Non stop for 1hr15min. cost 200euros

Other air flights are available with cost of 80 euros with one stop and trip time of 2 hours. www.cheapoair.com

If you have your ticket already purchased for the train then you should make your train in Milan.

2. Re: Enough time?

Thanks for your help. We think the train will be best because it will be enjoyable to see the

scenery (although I realize not all will be scenic) and because we find that train tickets are

about 1/4 of the cost of a flight. We have the day free & fly home the next day from Zurich.

I'm glad you think we should be able to make the connection in Milan, traveling between stations.

Why are you arriving at the other station when the train goes directly to Milano Centrale. Did you purchase and Italo ticket instead of Trenitalia.

5. Re: Enough time?

That train, going to Torino, does not go to Milano Centrale.

There seem to be fewer trains with Trenitalia in July.

There are trains at 10.25 and 11.25 by Italo

https://www.italotreno.it/en

arriving 12.15 and precariously at 13.15

6. Re: Enough time?

There is a metro line from Garibaldi but not wise to try with bags.

https://www.numbeo.com/taxi-fare/in/Milan

indicates that the taxi fare from Garibaldi to Milano Centrale will be about 11 euros, including 8 minutes waiting in traffic in the 2km trip.

I don't know about eating on trains to Switzerland, you may want to take a picnic on the Frecciarossa. :-)

7. Re: Enough time?

For one Saturday in July, the following trains connect with the respective EuroCity trains to Zurich at Milano Centrale

7:30 Firenze, leaving Milan at 9:25

9:00 Firenze, leaving Milan at 11:25

(About €67)
