Rental car return in Milan

We will be renting a car in Florence and returning it in Milan. Is it better to return it at a city location and taxi it to our hotel, then to the Linate airport or to drive the car to our hotel and then return it to the airport? Our hotel is in the Area C but we will be getting there on a Saturday and leaving for the airport on Sunday morning.

Have always found that city location returns in Milan are quirky. They close early, and dont always update their hours on the websites etc. At least call the city return location in advance to confirm if theyll be open. Saturdays and Sundays are the worst. If you are returning to the airport anyway, just as easy to keep the car overnite and return directly to the airport. Not sure what area C means, but to central milan count on 15-18 euro taxi fare to airport each way if you use taxis. Some areas near hotels have street parking and you can search for "parcheggi milano" to get a list of garages http://www.parcheggi.it/mappe/index.php?citta=Milano%2C+MI

You don't need a car in Milan so I would drop the car off at Linate airport then get the shuttle bus into central Milan.
