one night in Milan

We have one night in Milan, mid-December. I need a hotel suggestion. Since it is only one night I don't mind if it is somewhat pricey, but not bank-breaking. Would like something with some character, good location.

If it's within your budget the Duomo area is the most central but hotels are more pricey, check out this price comparison website to see what's available for your budget. www.hotelscombined.com

The hotel De la Ville in Via Hoepli and the Gray in Via San Raffaele are both hotels with character and you can sometimes get good rates at the Westin and Principe di Savoia both in Piazza della Repubblica.

We stayed two nights here ... lovely breakfast, high end but not too expensive. We gave it a 9/10.

You could check out Hotel Christoforo Colombo, which we picked because it was less costly than hotels right around the Duomo but was about halfway between that area and Centrale station (within walking distance of each, weather permitting).
