Traveling to Milan and Rome

Next month I will be arriving in Milan, Malpensa Airport at 6:10pm. I am hoping to catch a 10:55pm flight out of Linate Airport to Rome. So is that 4-5 hours or so enough time to make it to Linate? I plan to use the Malpensa Express to Linate.

My 2nd option would be to take a train to Rome the next day or that same night.

Is the first option possible?

Thanks

The Malpensa Express doesn't go to Linate but to Milano Centrale, from where you would have to take the shuttle bus to Linate, as there is no station at that airport.

MXP Express timetable: malpensaexpress.it/en/…timetable.aspx e.g. dep. 18:46 arr. Milano Centrale 20:31 ; dep. 19:43, arr. 20:35

Milano Centrale - LIN shuttle timetables:

- Starfly/Autostradale: autostradale.it/pdf/…Linate01_02_13.pdf e.g. dep. 20:00, 21:00, takes 25 mins

- ATM: atm.it/it/…airbus.aspx e.g. dep. 21:00.

So, arriving at Milano Centrale by 20:35, you can take either shuttle at 21:00 and arrive at LIN by 21:30 for 22:55 flight.

Unfortunately, you are unlikely to get out of MXP in time to take the direct airport-to-airport shuttle (last departure from MXP T2 being at 18:30, arr. LIN at 19:50: http://www.malpensashuttle.it/carico/documenti/orario_linate-rogoredo-gobba-malpensa.pdf).

Ok. Thanks for the info. So ill ride the Malpensa Express to Milano Centrale and walk to Four Points Sheraton Milan Center and stay that night, go take a shuttle to LIN the next morning for a 8:45am flight to Rome.

For a day trip to Lugano Switzerland, would I have more options for a trains or even buses staying in the city or out by Malpensa?

qaminari, I just realized my mistake its a 20:55 flight or 8:55pm flight, so I probably won't make it in time.

Upon returning back to Milan from Rome, I will be arriving around 8pm at night into Linate. The next day I am going to Lugano via Milano Centrale. In terms of location and convenience in getting to Milano Centrale, which hotel should I stay the night before? Its either the Holiday Inn Linate Airport, where I could ride the bus for cheap 1.5 euros to the airport into the city or the Holiday Inn Milan Nord Zara and take a cab to the station? They both seem to be about the same distance?
