Weather and transfers

Hi,

We are looking to visit Castelrotto in the first week of December and stay in the Hotel Cavallino d'Oro.

This is our first trip and we are not into skiing but would like to go when the town is covered in snow and when we can maybe go on a sleigh, ice skate or snowmobile etc. Can some one tell me if Decemeber is a good time for snow in Castelrotto please? or should we wait until January or February?

Also please could you advise which is the best airport to fly to? We were planning on flying to Treviso and getting a coach/train but am not sure which one.

Many thanks

Mike

Hello

Castelrotto is a bit lower than the Val Gardena, and so sometimes the snow comes a little later there. Jan or Feb would give you a better probability of seeing snow if the winter starts late. Also bear in mind that at the beginning of December all the italians have a long weekend off, and so prices are higher and availability is lower.

Treviso is right on the other side of the Dolomites from Castelrotto. You're better off flying into somewhere like Verona, Innsbruck or Brescia.

besides Castelrotto, check out Bergamo. It's charming especially if you're looking at the hill town covered with snow.

Bergamo is lovely, yes, but it's on the other side of Italy!
