It is unlikely to be cold but could be wet.

There is usually a big difference between the beginning of October and the end of October. It is more likely to have spells of dry warm days -- sort of an Indian summer -- in the first part of October than in the latter. And even if if it summer-like during the day, the cool air really does nip at night.

In the latter half of October, it is not uncommon to get downpours, sometimes lasting several days to a whole week. The dampness and lack of sun can be chilly.

There is a great deal to do and see in Padova and the vicinity of Padova if you enjoy history, markets and art, especially since Venice is less than a half hour away by train. Verona, Treviso and Vicenza are also quite close by train. If you have a car, there are thermal spas, small medieval towns and more than one wine growing area. All depends on what you like to do and what your mode of transportation will be.
