Day trips from Venice

My 12-year-old daughter and I are going to be in Venice for a week. What day trips can we do either by train or car? Thanks

Lots of possibilities from Santa Lucia railway station. Both Padua and Treviso are only c.25 minutes by train. Vicenza is a little further at c.55 minute and Verona c. 80 minutes. Bologna is c. 110 minutes. See www.trenitalia.it for timetables.

Whilst in Venice do not forget the journey out to the northern islands - Murano, Mazzorbo, Burano and Torcello by water bus or the journey down the Lido by ACT land bus and ferry to Chioggia. All these are covered by the ACTV period tickets - various periods available from 12 hour to 72 hours. See www.actv.it for timetables and ticket details.
