Marathon on Sunday 22/10 - flight in the morning

Hello there,

Do you know if there will be any road closure this Sunday?

Our flight back is from Marco Polo airport at 9:00AM and I want to make sure we don't get stuck in Venise.

Also, do you recommend the bus to get from/to Marco Polo airport?

thanks,

There is always the Alilaguna ferry to take you back to Marco Polo. No marathon will affect this service.

Venice Airport Buses:

At the Marco Polo airport there is an ATVO land bus (€8) that will take you to Venice (€15 round-trip).

ATVO bus schedule from Marco Polo Airport to Piazzale Roma and from Piazzale Roma to Marco Polo Airport:

There is also an ACTV land bus service from Marco Polo Airport to Piazzale Roma (€8 one-way and €15 round-trip). Take Bus #5.

Consider buying a Tourist Travel Card ACTV, which entitles you to unlimited use of the waterbuses (vaporetti) serving Venice and the islands of the lagoon, and to unlimited use of ACTV Mestre land bus and tram service to and from Venice and in Mestre itself—and land buses on Lido. (A trip on a vaporetto without the card would cost you €7.50.)

ACTV Tourist Travel Cards, which can be purchased either on line, at the airport, in Mestre, or in Venice, are a tremendous bargain that will pay for themselves many times over during your visit to Venice. The link below will provide information about cost and card selection, regardless of where you plan to make your purchase.

The Rolling Venice discount card is for young people between 6 and 29 years of age.

The validity of ACTV Travel Cards starts from the exact moment of the first validation.

You must validate your ticket before you get on the vaporetto. If you do not validate the ticket you can be fined.

To validate the ticket, pass the card in front of the sensor in the center of the validation machine before entering the boarding area; a green light and a beep will confirm that the validation has been successful. A red light and buzz indicates that there is a problem and the ticket has not been correctly validated or has expired.

And you must also pass the card in front of the sensor in the center of the validation machine before entering the boarding area for every subsequent trip.

There will be delays on the liberty bridge. THey keep it two way but it dies get closed when the main bulk if the runners comes in. If you are going by land go earlier than you need . But in reading that you have a 9am flight you will be fine!

…avmspa.it/en/content/32%C2%B0-venice-marath… has the list of modifications applied to the various bus and vaporetto lines. Unfortunately even in the English section of the ACTV website they don't bother translating.
