Yes we have all woken up to a fair bit of snow here in Italy this morning.

Over the last few mornings it has been a light sprionkling but finally this morning it is looking like real snow .

Yahooooo- This is my favourite weather. Let it snow let it snow let it snow !!!

Here we've the most horrid weather of all, unpleasantly cold with a spiteful grey drizzle - so I don't suppose you'd feel like swapping for a day or two....?

But it could be worse, at least we weren't among the 2000 stuck in the Channel Tunnel last night.

Oh, I wish I was there! And, I wonder if it'll last until Natale?

"I wonder if it'll last until Natale?"

Doubtfully. Snow hardly ever lasts more than a day or two in Venice. In addition, the water levels are rising to "Orange" level and expected to reach 120cm in an hour or so (already the second "adjustment" this morning). So it will most likely be turned into ice in many lower areas.

We have about two inches at the moment, and its snowing again as I type! Plus there was acqua alta this morning which has left ice behind. Looks pretty, but I'm still delaying going to the shops.

The prediction tonight is for -10 deg C, so its not really a good time to be in the city. Fortunately, milder (although wet) weather is predicted from Tuesday and over Christmas. Scirocco as well, which will mean more acqua alta!

At the moment here in Washington, DC, we are getting our heaviest show storm in over 10 years.

I'd rather be just about anywhere in Italy, sipping cappuccino and watching the snow.....
