Venice Carnival

I am travelling alone to the Carnival at the end of February 2011 and I will be staying at the Hotel Da Bruno Salizzada S. Lio Castello. Please can anyone advise the best way to get from the airport to the Hotel.

Also would appreciate any other helpful information with regard to the Carnival.

There is a very good map on the Hotel web site,

The most straight forward way would be the Alilaguna Arancio to Rialto

www.alilaguna.it

or a Bus from the Airport to Piazzale Roma , then from there the 1 or 2 Vaporetto to Rialto

You are staying close enough to San Marco that you will be near the heart of Carnival. Depending on exactly what day/time you are arriving/departing and how much luggage you have, consider that you may encounter a good bit of crowds both on the vaporettos to/from Rialto and walking from Rialto to your hotel.

You may want to consider one of the alternatives such as Alilaguna, or were it a peak time, even a water taxi though that would be much more expensive. During Carnival might be a good time to use the shared watertaxi, as with so many tourists perhaps there is hardly any waiting for other passengers (but I haven't used the shared water taxi service myself yet).

Have a great time, I was there for the opening weekend last year.

Make sure you see il Volo dell'angelo if you are there in time.
