Will there be a vaporetto and gondola strike on March 22?

Hello. I just saw that there will be a local transportation strike in Italy on March 22. Does anyone know if that will affect vaporettos or gondolas that day? Thanks a lot for your help.

Gondolas very rarely strike as they are a private company. ACTV usually run a li ited serice ..connecting the islands . See the actv site nearer the time. Alilaguna dies not strike and atvo rarely does.

Anything could happen between now and 22 March so lets hope the strike is averted.

Oh my, we are arriving on the 23rd, do these strikes ever carry over to the next day? We had planned on taking the ATVO bus to P. Roma and then the vaporetto to the hotel....

Usually the ATVO Bus does not get involved in these strikes,.

A one-day strike called for 22 March will have no effect on 21 March or 23 March.

we will be arriving via train from Milan on the 22nd March. Does the vaporetto service (ACTV) fall under this public transportation strike? The ACTV website does not mention any strike.

If it happens, what are our options of getting to our hotel in the San Marco area from the S. Lucia station? we are traveling with an infant and some luggage, so walking might not be an option. Thanks.

Its too early... For the 22 I would expect the site to give info probably around the 20th... it might be called off. But seeing that is one carried over from Feb probably not. trains might not be running either. There will be a list of guaranteed trains on the trenitalia site again usually a few days before. Often it is the 'long haul' trains that run and the local ones cancelled.

Hello. Since it appears that Alilaguna will not go on strike if there is a strike on March 22, it looks like you can take the orange (arancia) Alilaguna boat from the Guglie stop near the train station all the way to San Marco for 15 euros one way (no charge for children under 6). You can see the Alilaguna info at www.alilaguna.it/en.

Good luck.

Thanks. I checked the Trenitalia website and our train is one of the guaranteed trains. WIll it be possible to share a water taxi with others from the train station to St Marks area? I know they charge ~100 euros for 1-3 people, but do they allow sharing and how much more would they charge roughly?
