Hi everyone, I'll be travelling to Venice and several other Italian cities beginning end of September. I'm hearing that train strikes happen quite often and is worried that if I buy all my train tickets in advance prior to arriving, and if there's a strike, then my travel plans will be hooped.
I'll need to travel on train for the following legs:
Venice --> Monterosso, Cinque Terre
Monterosso --> Pisa --> Naples
Naples --> Rome
Based on this, I've looked at Trenitalia and some legs are the fast train prior to transferring onto regional trains.
What're your suggestions, whether I should buy my tickets in advance? Or buy a Italy train pass and then make reservations on the fast train once I'm there....or buy tickets when I get there? What's the risk of not getting a ticket if I buy it while I'm there? I'm trying to see if I should even book hotels at all these other cities I'm going to as well in case something happens (like a train strike and I'm stuck) How often has the trains been striking?
Any recommendation would be much appreciated. Thanks!
