Itinerary help

Hi, we will be in Venice on Sept. 30 (coming by train from Rome that day, should arrive around 1pm) and October 1 (full day) and Oct. 2 (half day, must head back this evening)

My plan:

Arrive at 1pm. Eat quick lunch, find hotel (we are staying behind Casino, near grand canal). Check in. Then head to Murano/Burano to walk around. Eat dinner at Burano at Trattoria Al Gatto Nero. Head back to Venice for night life and have some drinks at St. Mark's square. Head back for sleep.

Day 2: Doge's Palace and St. Marks Basilica. Walk around, take it easy.

Day 3: See Frari church. Wander around, having cichetti for lunch. Wander around some more, and head back to train station to leave around 5pm.

Does this sound like enough wandering around time? We will have been in Rome for 4 nights prior, and want this to be more laid back. I added the islands the first day, so we could spend the next two in Venice proper. I am interested in seeing some glass, and then Burano sounds so beautiful...so I am not sure about missing them...but some say I should skip and just see Venice? We have two nights, but only one FULL day there.

Thanks for your help!

I would not bother with the islands either. At least not on the afternoon of your arrival. Get to Venice, check into your hotel and spend the evening. If by the afternoon of October 1st you feel like you are ok to part with Venice, then go for it. There is beautiful Venetian glass in Venice, so you really do not need to travel to Murano to see it. Yes, Burano is pretty but I think you could easily save it for your next trip. ;)
