What side of train to sit on, Venice to Rome ?

Just wondering if heading to Rome from Venice, the left or right of the train is best to sit for views?

Thanks.

You can't choose which side you sit. The trains get turned in service, so a seat might be on either side.

Indeed, if the Venice-Rome service goes via the main station in Florence (and most do), a seat that is on the left for Venice-Florence will be on the right for Florence-Rome, as the train reverses at Florence.

Also, it's heartbreaking going through long tunnels just before arriving in florence! Nice views though after florence around Orvieto ..

I was told the view is breathtaking... Is this right? This is why we are going by train, rather than air.

The views are nice from Florence to Rome, but nothing remarkable from Venice to Florence. Bologna to Florence is primarily tunnels.

The views are not remarkable. Nice as GAC says, but not breathtaking.

I'd spend my time flipping through your guidebook and getting ready for your time in Rome. ;-)
