Help First Time !! 2 nights 3 days !

Hi all

I just remembered we are off to Venice 2nd April for 2 nights and we have no clue what we are doing !

We are staying over at the Lido but arrive very late Wednesday eve 10pm maybe -

So 1. How do we get there from Marco Polo ?

and 2. All itinerary recommendations welcome!

We love food (not expensive or pretentious!) and are hoping to hire bikes one day :)

1) You can take a bus to Piazzale Roma and catch the vaporetto to the Lido. Or you can take a private water taxi (pre-arranged), but that would run you a bit of money. In the middle would be the Allilaguna, but I don't know if they run that late at night- perhaps worth some investigation.

2) I can highly recommend a great little place for dinner. La Zucca. But reservations are a must. You should call several days in advance, if you can. They have two seatings a night I believe- 7 and 9. Very small place but the food is outstanding: http://www.lazucca.it/

3) Wander. You have such a short time there. Other than San Marco and the Frari church (two places everyone should see), might I suggest taking a vaporetto to San Giorgio Maggiore. Go up in the bell tower. Don't forget your camera- the absolute best views of Venice. Stunning!

Buon viaggio!

The Alilaguna's last run from the airport with a stop at Lido departs at 12:15 AM, so you should be fine. There's also runs at 10:15 PM and 11:15 PM. The fare is 15 Euro (one way) but there are discounts for purchasing round trip tickets or purchasing in advance.

Al Vaporetto” (3726 Calle della Mandola, San Marco) is a reasonably priced restaurant that gets very good reviews. Click on Menu, then the Download PDF Menu, to see dining choices and prices.

Another possibility is Rosticceria Gislon (Calle de la Bissa 5424 | Campo San Bartolomeo):

Bacareto da Lele (Campo dei Tolentini 183 - Santa Croce)

There are no tables, so you will need to stand while enjoying your wine and delicious sandwiches. Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
