Gondola ride

Me and my husband are staying in Venice on the 9th May 2014, We are wishing to take a gondola ride in the evening whilst being serenaded. I understand the costs is significantly reduced if there are people willing to share the gondola!

Is it easy to find people at place of embarkation who are willing to share?

This is the Tariff for a Gondola,

You are right the price is the same for Six people, but with a singer which you have to arrange the cost would be more,

There is a gondola serenade organised by the gondola station at Santa Maria del Giglio. It goes daily and you can share the gondola with up to another 4 people. The question is who has the 'love seat' at the back?. Hardly romantic if you are in 2 small gondola chairs separate in the boat !!

If you want to go it alone then this must be pre booked as not all gondola stations have musicians available. Usually the music supplement is about another €150 -€200 on top.

Thank you for your reply,We have actually been on our own in a gondola ( many years ago) during the daytime, but quite fancy trying it in the evening, not really concerned about going on our own again, just want to see it from a different angle but don't want to spend quite as much money this time round!

Thanks again

When you are in Venice if you want to do the serenade then it is easy to book ( most hotels offer it ) as well as some agencies. Depending on what time of year they usually go early evening 18,30 and / or 19,30 . It used to be about €35-40 pp. Also booking nearer the time means you know better what the weather is going to be. No problem about shortage of places as they just stick on another gondola !!!
