Venice to Burano

Hi, Our cruise ship will be docked at the San Basillo Pier in a couple of weeks time. Could anyone tell me how to get to Burano from there please including what type of water taxi and where to get on. It all looks a bit complicated! Thanks

Don't confuse a water taxi with the vaporetto (water bus) which is what you need to take to get to Burano. You could take a water taxi, but they are expensive (very). I take it from your question ("where to get on") that you mean the water bus, as a water taxi would pick you up from more or less anywhere. You need to get a 12 hour vaporetto pass (from any manned vaporetto station). From San Basilio take the 5.2 service to Fondamente Nove, then take the 12 service to Burano. Vaporettos are frequent, but can be rather slow - the journey from Fondamente Nove to Burano takes about 45 minutes. Remember to validate your pass EVERY time you go onto the pontoon to board a vaporetto. See 'Public transportation' (top right) for more info.

As an alternative, you can also take line 2 or 5.1 from San Basilio to San Zaccaria, then line 14 from San Zaccaria to Burano.
