close to giardinetti but not through or past piazza S.M.

Could someone please advise.,,we have two nights in venice in October before boarding a cruise and would like to stay in a three star hotel or B and B close to San Marco giardinetti but maybe more to west or just north, but not across piazza and then north as many seem to be located...the reason is two fold- we arrive at airport and can take blue or orange line to giardinetti, then when time to board cruise can take blue line to cruise terminal, right? Also we plan to go to the opera both nights, nights, Palazzo Barbarigo Minotto, alongside the “Santa Maria del Giglio” (vaporetto) stop. It can be accessed from the mainland, from Fondamenta Duodo or Barbarigo....doesn't seem too far... Prefer not to stay by piazzale Roma unless that just makes best sense all around...we will have some luggage and prefer not having to walk super far or up and down tons of bridges with it....any advice appreciated, thanks so much, appreciate any info.... ps have been reading a lot and it's kind of overwhelming

Hi, take a look at Hotel Violino D'Oro. From the guardinetti stop - head left over a very small bridge then after a short distance turn right at Harry's Bar into Calle Valleresso. At the end, turn left (the San Moise church will be on your left and designer shops on your right) by the time you reach the Prada store you will be in the campo in front of the church and will see the hotel just to the left over a smallish bridge. Pretty easy as long as you are not trying to manage tons of luggage. Hotels Anastasia and Lisbona are situated immediately behind Violino D'Oro (no more bridges to cross)

Otherwise, the Monaco & Grand Canal is easier still - right opposite Harry's Bar but it's a 4-star and may not be what you are looking for..

Ooh - I've just remembered another... Hotel Firenze. The access is sandwiched between those designer shops I mentioned, meaning the hotel is above the shops. You will probably already be aware that this is a very busy area in the daytimes but it is quiet in the evenings (we have stayed in an apartment right next to Hotel Firenze and also Hotel Anastasia)

I have stayed in the past at the Do Pozzi. very conveniently located just off Calle larga XXII Marzo so convenient for the Giardinetti landing stage and only a short walk to the Palazzo Barberigo Minotto. Try to avoid a room overlooking the calle XXII Marzo/ calle d. Ostreghe as it can be noisy.

Thanks Robert...we have big suitcases and an easy, short walk to the inn from San Marco giardinetti is essential, with hopefully no stairs and not more than a few minutes ... But, don't wish to pay an arm and a leg....will look up your suggestion, aloha! ...
