Vaporeto 72 hours pass

If I pre-purchase my 72 hours pass online, it would appear that I still have to validate it and receive the actual card at one of the ticket kiosks. Considering that I still have to line up for validation at the same kiosks as everybody else, is there any savings of time and/or money by buying it on line? It would appear there is not.

There is no advantage at all in buying online. The 72-hour pass is readily available from staffed ticket offices at all the major vaporetto stops, from ticket machines at most vaporetto stops, and at Marco Polo airport.
