4 days in Verona

We are planning to visit Italy at the end of August, possibly for 11 nights (4 in Verona, 7 Lake Garda). Is there enough to do in Verona for 4 nights, how easy is it to visit Venice from there?

Any other tips welcome, restaurants, things to do etc. We are planning a trip to the opera but are open to all other suggestions

Thanks

We used about 1.5 days to see al the sites in Verona, but more or less running from a place to another. At a more relaxed pace, 2 days should be enough. To reach Venice fron Verona is very easy, you have to take a train; the trip will be 1-1.5 hours, depending on the type of train. Check trenitalia website for timetables.

For a wonderful dinner in Verona, try the restaurant in Palazzo Maffei.

If you decide not to go to Venice, other cities that can be easily reached by train are Mantova and Padova, both worth a visit.

2. Re: 4 days in Verona

If you don't run all day long 4 nights are a perfect stay for Verona including an Opera.

If you arrive by train, take the 3 days Verona Card at the money exchange office located into the train station Verona Porta Nuova. The card allows the entrance to all the main public monuments, all the main Churches and to use the city bus lines for free at the price of (more or less) 3,5 single entrances tickets. So you can use this 3 days to visit in a daily range 8,30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Remember that, if you arrive on monday, every public monument is closed until 2:30 p.m. but you can simply walk the city or visit the Churches (they're open on monday morning too).

Don't miss, if possible, Santa Maria in Organo, usually out of the usual touristic tours... but probably the most interesting site from an artistic point of view.
