Not sure where to put this question, we are traveling by train. 2 in our 60's , like to travel slow, not rushing to see everything and going all day and night. We like art, museums, food, nature., and just walking around absorbing the culture.

We leave Venice by train , thinking of going to Padua, Verona and Milan , over a total of 10 days, then on to Lake Maggoire for 5 full days, possible to stay in Stresa.

How should we space this time. How many days in each town and

is 5 days too long for Stresa. And do you have any suggestions

other than Stresa.

Hoping for your reply.

Consider some time in Padua.

If you like art, the Scrovegni Chapel is covered with frescoes painted by Giotto that many believe to be the first paintings of the Renaissance. Very beautiful! The town itself is quite nice, and has a pedestrian town center, with a nice ambiance. It has one of oldest universities in Europe (Galileo and Copernicus taught here). St. Anthony's Cathedral has beautiful bronzes along the alter done by Donatello.

Spend some time in the evening going on a walk (passegiatta) with the locals, and sit out in one of the piazze for drinks at dusk.
