The Way Verona - Viareggio and the snow chain

We are going to participate the local parade in Viareggio in the beginning of March.

We are going by rented car .

According to Google maps there are some ways to drive.

Which one is reccomended ?

Do we need to have in our car the snow chains?

Can we be checked by police about having the chains?

If it is snowing is it obligate to put the chains?

Thank You in Advance.

Read your own previous thread tripadvisor.co.uk/…55782498

The law does not specify when you have to put on chains, only when to carry them. Unless the road surface is completely covered with snow (highly unlikely) it is unwise to use chains.

Drive whichever way you like- www.viamicheilin.com proves more information than Google.

The police have a right to stop any vehicle at any time for no reason, and often do. I suspect they will not look for snow chains unless you have offended them in some way or there is snow on the ground, as they are most interested in ensuring you have the correct documents.
