transportation from mainland to Sardinia

I reserved a flight on Eurofly from JFK (New York) to Rome for July 17th. How do you then get to Sardinia from Rome? I heard there's only one airline that flies to Sardinia and the boat ride is eight hours. My husband and I will be travelling with our two children ages 6 & 4. Any information on flights and/or boat is appreciated.

dlfr,

It depends on which of Sardinia's 3 airports you aim to land at.

Flights:

Rome (Fiumicino) - Olbia by Meridiana:

Rome (Fiumicino) - Alghero by AirOne:

Rome (Fiumicino) - Cagliari by Meridiana

Ferry:

Civitavecchia - Olbia by Moby Lines (Journey duration is 4 hours 45 minutes is you take the 3pm sailing, or 10 hours if you choose to travel by night:

Civitavecchia - Arbatax, Cagliari or Olbia by Tirrenia
