We will be in Alghero over the second last Sunday in May and would like to see some of the La Cavalcatta festival in Sassari. I am most interested in seeing the equestrian side of things. A am after some specific advice on how to get the most out of this festival.
We will have a car, but given crowds/traffic/parking are we better off taking a train or bus from Alghero (which?) then how do we get to the Hippodromo. For the hipprodromo part do we need tickets? in advance/ at the gate ? is there a better place to sit/stand. What time do the various events take place ? Are other parts of the festival worthwhile.
Is it viable to combine this with a more general visit to Sassari on the same day or is everything just to over run with crowds.
Many thanks to anyone who can help me with this
