First time to Sardinia - need advice on where to stay please

Hi, we have 6 nights in Sardinia from August 30th, and are flying into Olbia airport. We both aren't keen to do a lot of driving (long story!), so we are looking for somewhere that has beaches/restaurants in reasonable walking distance. Alghero looked like it ticked the box, but seems to be a bit of a mission to get to from Olbia. Does anyone have any suggestions, perhaps north of Olbia? Thanks for your help!

North of olbia consider Santa Teresa di Gallura, from here easy trip to Bonifacio, corse. Or Palau, from here easy trip to la Maddalena. Anyway it is possible to go to Alghero by train, just swapping a train in Sassari.

Cheers for the info! We have actually decided on Golfo Aranci. Can't wait!

Hi just back and Sardina is lovely but very mountainous and the roads are very windy so driving anywhere will take longer than you think.

Santa Tersa is pretty close and its really nice.
