Taxis in Alghero

We will be visiting Alghero for a day on a cruise ship. We don't like organised excursions, but would like to see some of the local area as well as have a look around the town. Are there any taxis near where the ships dock which would take us our for about 2 hours to see some of the scenery, and what sort of price might we expect to pay? Thanks.

Your ship won't dock. You will come in by tender.

A taxi wil be very expensive. Fares are regulated by law. It costs € 3,00 to get in, and then € 1,80 each for the first 10 kilometres and € 1,30 for ech km after that. You probably won't find one who speaks much English so you'll miss out on a lot. If you walk up through the public gardens which will be to the left of where your tender docks there is a taxi rank at the top.

O)therwise there are local companies that offer proper excursions that you can tailor.

my advice is to avoid taxis, they are to much expensive.

anyway you can find them (white cars) at the harbour (next to the old town walls) , the taxi parking area is segnaled by orange signals with the writing taxi.
