Villa Ravida

Vagabonda:

Can you tell me anything about Villa Ravida? I have come across a number of posts saying they give cooking lessons in Melfi but their website is down and there is only one review on TripAdvisor. Is this no longer a viable option? I am trying to work Selinute into our trip next December and combining it with a cooking class would be an efficient use of time. I was planning to do Selinute with a wine tour and lunch at Paneta but it appears that Planeta will be closed for the few days just after Christmas. I am wondering if the issue would be the same with Villa Ravida.

Thanks,

Kathleen

Unfortunately Villa Ravida is currently closed for restorations Kathleen D and it's not expected to open for quite awhile. It's still possible to visit the olive oil production, but not during the Christmas period.

You might consider Tenuta Stoccatello in this area

Thanks so much. I will look into that one. I am also waiting to hear back from Modicarte to see if they can do a class on Dec.23rd or 24th. The holidays are making my planning a bit tricky!

Thanks again for the input.

Prego Kathleen,

Yes, Christmas is a family holiday period, so some planning is required, but it’s also a festive time to enjoy local culture!

How does visiting tenuta stocatello compare to visiting Planeta for wine and olive oil tasting? We are planning to do this one day from selinunte. Thx.

Hi alison18losangeles,

Planeta is a progressive winery and offers a top wine tasting lunch experience.

La Foresteria Planeta is set in the vineyards, but the Cantine Ulmo located along a lake just outside Sambuca di Sicilia is delightful - There are walks (La Segreta) in the vineyards, a tour of the winery, wine tasting, and lunch, a very enjoyable and memorable day!
