I have been planning a 2 week trip to Sicily with my husband - we are both in our 50's and reasonably independently well travelled. We prefer to just book flights and make hotel bookings ourselves. I am just on the point of booking flights for 31st July - 14 August, but have just been told by some work colleagues that Sicily in august is horrendously crowded with huge queues for everything....... and that we would be mad to go in August. I thought it would be 'busy' but managable. Are we mad to continue with our planning.
Our hoped itinary was to visit Palermo, Agrigento, Taormino and Siracusa - possibly Selinunte and more. We are not beach orientated but more interested in archaeology, sites and of course the culture and food.
Any advice gratefully received
