Catania bus station

We will be taking a SAIS bus from Messina to Catania "Terminal", and then an Interbus from Catania "Via Archimede ang. Via Liberte" to Siracuse. Does anyone know if the Catania "Terminal" is the same bus station or in the same place as the one at "Via Archimede ang. Via Liberte? If it isn't what's the best way to get from one to the other? Thanks.

The SAIS bus arrives in Catania at Via D'Amico, 181 (P.zza Stazione FS) and Interbus departs Catania at Corso Umberto (di fronte Stazione FS) - The bus station in Catania is just opposite the train station.

A map may be helpful – Enter “Sicilia Catania SAIS Autolinee Spa”

http://maps.google.it/maps?hl=it&tab=wl

Zoom in around “A” and you will also see the “Etna Trasporti Spa” (Interbus). Then click on “A” for ‘Street View’ and see photos of the area.

I have walked to this bus "terminal" in Catania. It is not really a "terminal" in the sense of a building, but merely an open parking lot with many bus stalls where SAIS and Interbus/Etna buses stop to load and unload passengers and luggage. The ticket office is across the narrow street, at Via d'Amico 181. This "terminal" is 300 yards north of the Catania central train station. The Google maps which Vagabonda has hyperlinked also have photographs which show the blue buses lined up along Via d'Amico. Another photo, taken closer to the train station, show the terminus of the AST (Azienda Siciliana Trasporti) buses. Catania city buses pull up right in front of the train station. This whole area of town is teeming with buses, both city buses and intercity buses. Your own bus connection (SAIS to Etna/Interbus) will be in the same location. You will walk maybe 10-50 yards between buses.

GAC,

Thanks. That explains why I couldn't really see an Interbus station/office.

No, Catania's bus 'station' it is not really a terminal or a station - Neither Catania nor Palermo have “proper” bus stations.
