Catania Ferry Dock

What is the best option to travel to the TTY ferry dock in Catania. We will be coming from Siracusa by bus, likely arriving by the Catania train station. I understand the ferry dock is within walkable distance, but I recall Vagabonda recommending against that in a previous post.

Does the Siracusa bus have a stop near the ferry port?

If walking from the train station to the port is not recommended, what is the best option.

Thanks.

Many do walk, but the area around the port isn't the most pedestrian-friendly.

You might also consider taking the bus from Siracusa to the P.zza Borsellino (Vicino Piazza Duomo) stop.

If you didn't walk, you would ring for a taxi, since no bus services the port, although the Alibus comes near the port, but in the direction from the airport to the train station. You could also take the bus to the airport, and then take the Alibus to Catania, but it's probably not worth the switch for the relatively short walk.

Vagabonda. Thank you once again for coming to my rescue. I am always thankful you are there to help with my trip planning.

The ferry boards about 8 PM. I had planned either to arrive in Catania just in time for the ferry, or to have dinner in Catania and then head out to the dock.

I believe the bus would normally stop near the Central Train Station. Based on your knowledgeable suggestion, I would likely take a taxi to the dock, rather than the short walk.

Your alternative has me confused. What would be the benefit of alighting from the bus at the P.zza Borsellino stop. Isn't that even further from the dock than the Train Station? I'm sure you had an excellent idea in mind when suggesting this. I was going to review bus schedules but they appear to be down for maintenance at the moment.

Thank you for being available to us confused tourists. This is my first time in Sicily, although I have traveled to Italy on many occasions. I may even be asking for help while I am visiting, thanks to wi-fi in my BNB's. Your help is truly appreciated.

Oh my goodness. Vagabonda, as always you were right. The P.zza Borsellino js a bus stop only a six minute walk from the ferry dock. That is clearly the way to go. Thank you.

Prego simulation - It's my pleasure!

If you plan to board at 20.00, then you won't be able to enjoy dinner, which would begin at 20.00.

Hours and Schedules:

You should find Piazza Borsellino a convenient stop if arriving from Siracusa and heading to the port.

Buon viaggio Stuart!
