Buses to/from Catania airport

I have tried to do as much online research as I could, but two questions remain...

1. I would like to take a bus from Catania airport straight to Agrigento. There is a rumour that Sais Transporti runs one, but their website won't let me select it. Does that mean it no longer exists, and I have to go through Catania?

2. The return flight is on a Sunday, at four pm. I will be in Siracusa that day. Interbus seems to have a bus to Catania airport at 13:00, arriving at 14:15. I think this should be enough time, at a small airport... But can the schedule be trusted? (A friend told me that Sunday buses have a tendency to get cancelled.) So should I try to book an expensive cab, instead?

Thanks so much for any information...

Welcome to Sicily n0_name_traveller!

SAIS Trasporti does run a direct bus from Aeroporto Catania to Agrigento. The bus from Catania stops at the airport on the way to Agrigento, so enter Catania, €13,40. You would purchase your ticket at the agency at the airport prior to boarding the bus.

Interbus runs dependable service, but check with your airline, because airlines have different terms and conditions for bag drop desk closures, and different check-in desk and gate closure times.

Thank you so much, Vagabonda, for this post and the many others I used in my planning!

I have to be there an hour before -- so that should be OK unless the delay is > 30 mins.

Prego n0_name_traveller,

I have confirmed directly with SAIS Trasporti in Catania for this route. Allow the time on those schedules for the bus to arrive at the airport from Catania.

Buses are generally reliable.

Buon viaggio!

Hello everyone,

Hopefully this is the correct topic to post my question. I will arrive in Catania tomorrow evening and I was wondering how I can get to the city center from the airport---which bus should I take, how much would it cost, and how I can obtain a ticket.

Thank you, that was very helpful!

It is strange that the buses are quite small. It can become quite tight in there :)

However, this also has advantages in the sense that it brings people closer together.

If you mean bus #457 and Via Etnea, then yes, it does. In fact, it follows it for quite a while. See the above post by Vagabonda to determine the route.
