we are staying in Taormina in September, and want to walk up Etna. There are many different reports, but can anyone suggest the best way of doing it without a guide. People say the roads/car parks are confusing... what is the best road to use, which car park, ... then should we cable car and walk the rest?
or, what are the costs of a guide? would it be worth it and would it make a difference - I don't really want to know the geology/history/etc just to get as close as possible to the summit,
and what to wear in September?
thanks for anyone who can help
