Late in - early out of Catania

We will be flying from Malta and arriving a 7:15 pm for a last night in Catania before we take a 6:30 am flight to Rome. Are there hotels that are near the airport? Or should we take a taxi into Catania center and then back to the airport early in the morning?

Hi There

I have been to Catania quiet a lot so I hope I can help you here. With regards to hotels near the airport, I dont believe that you will find to many if any although it does depend on what you call close. My I suggest that you go for a hotel in the centre of Catania. Save your money and get the shuttle bus straight from the airport which runs very well straight into Catania, journey time is about 15mins & costs about 2euros. The main street in Catania is Via Etnea were the bus also goes too. There are many quest house along this route and I dont think that you will have any trouble finding a room at this time of year. Hope that helps

Thanks ianc, That was good advice. I don't have a handle yet on what size these towns/cities are and how close everything is!

Be careful. The earliest bus starts at 5:00. That might be cutting it close for a 6:30 flight. We have stayed at Hotel Gresi, off Via Etnae, and used a taxi to get that 6:30 flight. It costs about 25 euros.

I don't think that there is a hotel near the airport.
