A Few Precious Hours In Sicily...

Hi,

We are cruise passengers with a few hours available in Messina (7am - 2pm).

Due to these time constraints we are happy to spend our time on a beach.

Can anyone recommend the most accessible beach? We have no issue walking if relatively close by.

Have viewed website for Lido La Spiaggietta but there doesn't seem to be an English language version.

Many Thanks....

Take a taxi or bus from the port to the beach – You might enjoy Mortelle.

Hi Vagabonda,

Many thanks for the advice.

Had a look at Torre Faro, the photos are impressive! How long would it take to get there from Messina, taking the #79 bus?

Lido la Spaggietta also looks very nice. Would this be closer to Messina?

Regards....

Hi, there are no beaches near the port. As Vagabonda wrote, the alternatives are Torre Faro or Mortelle. It takes about 35/40 minutes to Torre Faro by bus, but it depends also on traffic. Buses are not so reliable in Messina.

Lido La Spiaggetta is closer, yes.

Traffic can be an issue in Messina - Best to take a taxi....

Torre Faro is an experience, but Lido la Spaggietta is an acceptable beach.

Thanks to you both for the info... I think we will stay closer to the port given our limited timeframe. The Lido it is :)

Prego MCOC_67,

Hopefully that plan won't disappoint....

Even with so little time, maximise your time and see Messina’s top attractions – The Cathedral at noon to see the Astronomical clock, and the Regional Museum.

All the best -

Vagabonda
