Apartment with terrace in Palermo

We are fiftyish couple looking for a nice apartment to rent in Palermo city during July 2008 for 2 weeks. Would want a terrace or outside space which can be shaded and it to be in the city.

We had also thought of a hotel in the city for a couple of days before the apartment hopefully with a pool - but my research has not found anything nice.

Does anyone have suggestions.

Since Palermo is a larger city, there aren't many hotels with pools and those that do have pools cater more to the business traveler and may not be the best choices. Essentially, you will be trading a pool for location or charm!

The Michelin rated San Paolo Palace has a rooftop pool.

Jolly Hotel Palermo also has a pool.

Outside space in Palermo is a tough request!!

Have you considered a hotel with a roof-top terrace like the Centrale Palace Hotel? There are also patios between rooms and it has an amazingly central location!

BB22 is an outstanding B&B with a terrace!

The little lounge/dining room leads out onto its own terrace (again wonderfully stylish and with great views), where you can have your breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening.

The feeling at BB22 is very relaxed it's like having your own apartment except with all the security and comfort of a hotel. It's is also a stones throw from many excellent restaurants and the area feels unspoilt and less tainted by the tourism we witnessed in other areas of Palermo.

Sky Sleeping is another B&B with a terrace.

If you want to stay right in the city centre then I thoroughly recommend Antonio Santangelo's apartment on Via Porta di Castro just by the Ballaro market. It has a gorgeous little secluded terrace that provides a real oasis away from the grittiness of Palermo. You can find it on the Homelidays website ref.47811.

Read of our interest in an appartment to rent in Palermo. I would agree, you would v. likely be trading a pool for location and local interest, etc. You may find the reviews on Chez Jasmine, in the Old Town in Palermo interesting. Website is: www.chezjasmine.biz.

Let me know,

All the best,

Maeve

That is a very, very good point!!

Palermo is very, very HOT in July - uncomfortably hot, and muggy!
