Welcome to Sicily donothorpe!

Yes, there's overnight ferry service from Palermo to Naples.

Also from Palermo to Salerno via Grimaldi.

And Palermo to Genova, but perhaps best avoided.

And GNV from Palermo to Livorno or Civitavecchia.

Thank you, Vagabonda. Please excuse my clumsy way of doing things, I am not as quick of mind or muscle as you young people. I had a difficult time getting info from the websites you gave me. What times does the day ferry run from Palermo to Naples, and how much does it cost?

Prego donothorpe,

An overnight ferry runs from Palermo to Naples.

SNAV and Tirrenia both run this service, about 10,5 hours.

The rate would depend on the lodging selected (deck seat, inside cabin, outside cabin....).

Thanks again, Vagabonda. I would like to take a day ferry if that is possible. If not, what times does the night ferry leave? And how much is the cheapest lodging on the ferry? Lastly, how much in advance do I need to reserve a place on the ferry? I had a very difficult time getting information on the ferry website.

Prego donothorpe,

There are supplemental day ferries in summer, but not at this time of year.

Ferries depart at night at about 20:00.

You would not require prior booking in May.

Tirrenia or SNAV run overnight ferry service from Palermo to Naples.

The cheapest lodging is an airline-type reclining seat instead of a cabin.

You might find an online booking engine easier to navigate.
