Hi Vagabonda and other forum posters,
We are two women traveling in Italy in October. We are meeting up (my friend will be in Europe already) in Naples/Sorrento and spending two nights/three days on the Amalfi coast. BUT...we want to take a train or hire a driver to get us to Taormina. I've looked at many posts and can't figure out how to do this/who to ask/hire, etc or even how long it might take.
We have four days in Sicily, then have to get back to Naples to catch a flight. We thought we would explore northeast Sicily, stay in Taormina and visit Mt. Etna, Catania, Siracusa if we have time. Then we can either fly or take a boat from Palermo to Naples.
Do you have any advice for me regarding Sorrento-Taormina-Naples travel or things we MUST do while in northeastern Sicily? We are in good physical shape so activity level is not a problem. For some reason, Rick Steves does not have a book on Sicily.
I see many good B&Bs in Taormina. We are leaning toward Le Sibille but are open to others.
Many thanks in advance for your help.
