Central Romantic Base in Tuscany

My wife and I will be visiting our daughter who will be spending a semester in Rome in late February. The two of us plan to spend 3 days alone in Tuscany. I would appreciate any suggestions on a hotel that is a good central location and romantic. A canopy bed is a big plus. My budget is up to $300 night. We will have a rental car so getting to whatever hotel we decide on won't be an issue. I appreciate any suggestions.

Villa Bordoni might be just what you're looking for. It's a "boutique" hotel, they have canopied beds, and the location is beautiful - in the Chianti hills above Greve. They also have an excellent in-house restaurant. http://www.villabordoni.com

Also, please check Castello Di Spaltenna in Gaiole in Chainti. I am not sure sure about the canopy bed, but when we stayed there we loved it!

Villa Bordoni is nice, but a commute to get in or out!

Stay in the Palazzo Ravizza in Siena with a room with a view out across the town wall to the Tuscan countryside -- they have parking (which was free when we were there) -- it is an easy stroll to the Campo and Cathedral -- and Siena is well located for a day trip or two to places like San Gimignano, Montepulciano and other delights of the area --

there are some great potential stops between Rome and Siena -- Tarquinia/Cerveteri, Tivoli, Orvieta, Sovana, Pitigliano, Saturnia, Pienza all come to mind -- one or two on the trip north of course and not all

Palazzo Ravizza was on my list of possibilities. I'm glad to see it was recommended. I was also considering Hotel L'Antico Pozzo in San Gimignano and Palazzo del Capitano in San Quirico d'Orcia. Any thoughts on these?

Villa Bordoni and Castello di Spaltenna both looked very nice, but are closed during February. Locanda nel Cassero looks like an option to consider.

Thanks for the help.
