More suggestions for hotels for Lucca and Sienna

Thanks to everyone for feedback on Florence - I have finally booked the first 4 nights there but need help with the next stage. We were planning on spending 1 or 2 nights after our initial 4 in Florence upon arrival in Lucca, then traveling onto Sienna where we will base ourselves for the next 3-4 nights. Here are some hotels I have been told about, read about in books (have checked general online search engines yet) - anyone know of these places, have comments, and/or additional suggestions????

Lucca Sienna -- Palazzo Ravizza

Antica Torre

Cannon D'Oro

Palazzo Alexander

Suggestion!! Why not rail for the day from Florence to Lucca or from Siena to Lucca. It will save you a 1 night stand, moving all your luggage and additional travel stress.

The Grand Continental Hotel in Siena is perfect!!!

Rail - or bus - Florence to Lucca......really easy, quick, nice.

awbetts,

A lot depends on how much you want to spend.

Palazzo Ravizza gets good reviews on this site.

Cannon d'Oro is a good basic hotel with a great location.

Alma Domus is a basic hotel with a good location and great rates.

Piccolo Puccini is a nice place with a good location.

The Universo has been redone to be big and bright and has a good location (check to see if there are concerts in the piazza because it will get noisey)

Definitely see Lucca by rail for the day from Florence -- no need to pack up and lug stuff over there!

I stayed at Alma Domus in Siena last year -- for me it was the perfect location at the perfect price, but it is very basic (no TV) and is not for everyone (though very clean and otherwise comfortable)
