Hiring a Vespa/scooter... preferably not Florence!

My husband and I will be in Tuscany for a week in September, we are staying in Pienza. We would love to hire a Vespa or a scooter for a day to tour the countryside - we will also have a car. We would prefer to just rent the scooter alone rather than do a tour. However I have done a bit of Googling and most of the Vespa rental places seem to be in Florence, which would require us driving to Florence, parkin, trying to navigate the Vespa out of the city etc.

Is there anywhere that rents scooters that would A) be closer to Pienza and B) not be in such a busy city so it would be easier to drive the Vespa away!

I owned a Vespa ages ago. Keep in mind people even in the countyside around Pienza drive very fast. Just keep that in mind. I was there for the 4th time last October.

Thanks for that link Joannaspencer, I had looked at that place, but being San G, I still think it's a bit far from Pienza. Our plan would be to drive to the rental place, pick up scooter, drive round for the day and then drive back to Pienza after dropping off the scooter, so I think the drive to and from San G would be a bit too far.

Has anyone heard of this place?

The website is in Italian unfortunately! But it seems to be only €40 for a Vespa 125cc for the day. Seems really reasonable and they are in Buonconvento, so a lot more convenient to Pienza, just wondering if they are reliable.

I personally don't know the rental place you mentioned and either the one I'm suggesting, but it's located in Pienza, a location more conveniently than Buonconvento. The shop is in Terentola, but they can rent directly at your location.

It is called il Girasole and rents vespa for 49 euro for 1 day including 150 km. This the website in English www.autonoleggioilgirasole.it/scooter.en.php I suggest you contact them and ask more details.

Hope it helps
