Can you hire a taxi cab in remote areas of tuscany?

We will be in need of a couple of one-way taxi rides for our child and her grandmother, between this wedding venue and this lodging: BORGO PIGNANO Loc. Pignano 6 56048 Volterra Pisa, Italy to our apartment-style hotel about 30 minutes away -- VICARELLO DI VOLTERRA Strada Provinciale Volterrana SP15 56048 – Volterra

It seems like these areas are pretty far from the large towns. Is it even possible to hire a car out here? How reliable will they be and any idea the cost?

Thanks very much!

You could ask the accommodation to make the arrangements, probably with a taxi driver in Volterra, assuming that there are one or two taxi licenses there. Since you'll be paying for the driver's entire journey both times, it might be better to pay someone associated with the accommodation to do the trips.

Absolutely. Check with the people at the wedding venue as they will no doubt have been asked this question before and have phone numbers for local licensed drivers. Due to the high cost of gas in this country, taxis are naturally expensive. It's only a wild guess but a journey of 30 mins could cost you something in the region of Euros 40+ but he'll give you a quote beforehand. The other important consideration is that these guys are often booked up well in advance taking local people to airports, etc so make your reservation as soon as you can.
