Itinerary in Tuscany

We'll be in the Tuscany area for 5-6 days, coming from Naples, then making our way to Cinque Terre (all by train, but plan to rent a car once we arrive in Tuscany). We're hoping to hit Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa and Chianti Region. Wondering what the best way to do it so we don't lose to much time going back and fourth and how to go about it (train, car, accomodations). Also, would love to do an authentic italian cooking class at some point, any suggestions on where and with who??

Thank you :)

1. Re: Itinerary in Tuscany

There are a lot of ways to do this. Heres one: Rome - train to Florence - 3 nights - including one day bus trip to Siena and San Gigmignano - train to Lucca (2 nights) including one half-day bus trip to Pisa - train to C.T.

That misses Chianti (which I love) but you can not do everything in 6 days.

OR: Rome - car to Siena/Chianti Road/ Gaiole/Castellina/Florence. with one night in Chianti hotel, 2 nights in Florence, 2 nights in Lucca.

The good news is that you can not go wrong unless you try to pack too much into 6 days - and you are close to doing that.

If you do rent a car you need to know all about the limited traffic zones in place in most of those destinations. Read about them here:
