Campervan Tour of Tuscany in late March/ early April

Hi

I'm hoping to take my campervan through Northern Italy and into Tuscany for about a week in late March/ early April and I'd welcome any ideas.

I'll be driving from the UK and I've allocated 2 weeks for the entire journey so about a week touring Tuscany should be about right. My wife and I really prefer not to stay at organised campsites where possible - we prefer seclusion where we can get it and if that comes with a view so much the better.

Fingers crossed for some great ideas!

Peter

This has come up before but there are few people on this particular board that travel this way. For more specific info perhaps check out one of the forums on the camping magazine websites? Although you see quite a few campervans around (for they're quite popular with Italian tourists), I can only picture one or two camper sites and they are both in very unappealing positions right next to busy main roads. Incidentally, do you have heating in your campervan for it can still be very cold, especially at night, in late March with temperatures perhaps even nudging zero.

I think your plan is a bit early. Even along the coast in late March plants are not far along and the trees inland are not in leaf. Campgrounds in Italy tend to be either mountain or sea oriented and they will not be active then, if they are open.

In our area of Liguria Levante and in nearby Tuscany there are numerous campgrounds but we don't see many campervans arriving until Pentacost.

lastraniera is correct, you need to find a camper oriented forum for good info.
