Beaches in Tuscany??

We are planning a 10 day trip to italy in September. We are looking at either spending 10 days split between different destinations ie Rome Naples and somewhere quieter, Or ten days in Tuscany just travelling about to the different amazing areas.

Was just wondering if there any coastal/beach areas in Tuscany? We are fully aware this is not going to be a beach holiday however it would be nice to spend a couple of days on a nice sandy beach to relaxe in between visits.

of course--look at google maps!

The northern area has some sandy beach resort towns that frankly did not impress me, but the southern Tuscan coast, call La Maremma, has some nice spots:

Just to warn you, beaches are often private in Italy and you have to hire an umbrella and lounger to use them, this can be quite expensive in high season.
