Day trip to Siena (staying in Florence)

I'm staying in Florence for 3 days next week and would like to take a day trip to Siena. Can anyone tell me what is the best way to get there and how long it takes.

Should I organise my day trip in advance?

From Siena you could take a REGIONALE train direct to Siena ( timetables is available on www.trenitalia.com), it take about 1 hour and half to get there. You can buy train tickets in advance through the website.

The bus to Siena is very efficient and runs very frequently and is also cheap. Takes 1h15min.

The bus station is across the street from the rail station on the left if you are facing the station its called SITA, the tourist office will direct you to the bus stn and the TO is across the street from the rail STN.

The bus is also basically non stop , unlike the train.

You can by the tickets any time and use them aytime, no restrictions.
