Hertz Car Rental from Via Erbosa Location

We will be driving south into Tuscany from Florence and would prefer to rent from Hertz outside of the city center. It looked to me like Via Erbosa is just south of the city center and the river.

Is the Via Erbosa location an easy location to depart to Tuscany from?

Go to the website www.viamichelin.com to see where the Via Erbosa is, where it is in relation to where you are staying in Florence, and where it is in relation to where you want to go from there.

Where are you going to be staying in Florence? Where are you planning to go from there? Saying you are going to go "into Tuscany from Florence" is like saying you are going from Paris into France. When you are in Florence you are in the capital of Tuscany.

The Via Erbosa is well outside of the center of Florence, so you'd have to get there with your baggage. Then getting from the Via Erbosa to, for example, the two roads into Chianti, would be a bit complicated.

In short, you might do better using the Hertz office in the middle of town on the Via Fineguerra.

Either Finiguerra or Borgognissanti, the two locations very close to the train station, or else drop the car at Florence airport, and take a taxi into town (appr. 25 euro). I wouldn't get confused trying to find Via Erbosa.

We are staying about a mile from the Via Erbosa location. Being so close we can get the car and come back for our luggage. Will it be impossible to get our way out of the city to Radda from here? Should we reconsider our renting location?

According to via michelin, the Via Erbosa location is 3.5 km from Via De' Benci, where we are staying.

We will be heading south to Panzano, via Route 222.

I(f you have to cross the city to get there, don't do it. The probability you'll inadvertently cross the electronic gates is very high.

We would take a taxi to the Via Erbosa location, and then head south to Panzano.

Where are the gates that we need to watch out for?

The electronic gates to the traffic limited area. You cross those, you pay a big fine.

How do I find out where those gates are?

Our current plan is to take a taxi to the Via Erbosa Hertz location, and to then drive south from there to Panzano.

When we return the car two weeks later, we will be returning it to the airport location.

Will we be crossing one of these dreaded gates if we stick to our plan?

If you pick up the car in the Via Erbosa and drive south from there, you shouldn't have a problem.

The website with the map showing the limited traffic zone is at:
