Visit to Pisa on way to airport

Can anyone advise? I am staying in Florence for 4 nights in February, Monday to Friday. Our flight home on the Friday is from Pisa airpo and not till the evening and was therefore interested in visiting Pisa if possible. We will be catching the train from Florence to get to Pisa airport and want to know if it would be better to go to the airport and leave our cases in left luggage and then get a taxi into the centre or can we get off the train at Pisa station if there is somewhere to leave our luggage at the station. Would appreciate any info, thanks.

Also i realise there is a hop on hop off tourist bus in Florence is this worth doing as i have read that there is no traffic in the centre of Florence so does it give access to sites or not?

Thanks

There is not a train station in immediate proximity to the Tower Complex. Check with your airline and see if you could go straight to the airport and CHECK your luggage. You can then go right outside the airport and get a bus for the short trip to the tower complex without having to worry about your luggage. Alternatively, check to see if there is a left luggage facility at the airport (can't recall.)

Pisa is easily visited by train. Take the train from Florence – Pisa Centrale has left luggage storage, deposito bagagli. The left luggage is located to the right when you disembark the train at the end of platform #1. Have your passport ready for photocopy.

You could walk the 45-minutes to the Campo dei Miracoli, take bus LAM Rossa, or take a taxi for about 6 euros.

Pisa Airport:

There is also left luggage storage at the Pisa airport:

How to reach the Airport:

Pisa Airport - Pisa Central Station by Train:

Florence’s €20 Hop-On,Hop-Off buses stop at all the major sights, BUT most of Florence’s sights are located in the historic centre – and very easily reached on foot.

Unless you have a mobility problem, you don't need to ride the hop-on hop-off bus at Florence. The city is very compact and you can access just about most of the sights within a 10-minute raidius on foot. The slight outliers are Accademia (just around 10 minutes from the center) and Piazza Michelangelo (ride the local bus up there).

If you are interested in climbing the tower, be sure to book the ticket in advance online at least 16 days before your climbing date. This will ensure you get to climb the tower and also at your specified time. See link below:

There is a train station in the immediate vicinity of the Tower in Pisa - it's called Pisa San Rossore.

The Pisa S. Rossore station does not offer left luggage storage.

Leave your luggage in Pisa airport (only a small airport ) - 7 euros per bag take a taxi outside , Pisa Tower is only 10 to 15 minutes away and costs 10 euro each way. Be sure to reserve your tour of leaning tower on line , tour takes 30 minutes and there are plenty of restaurants around to grab a bite to eat before heading back to airport.

You might just feel more comfortable already having your luggage at the airport and you might also appreciate the convenience of arriving in Pisa by taxi, but since Pisa is "on the way" to the airport from Florence, you wouldn't have to go out to the airport only to return back to Pisa.
