Rome Airport to Train Station?

We are arriving at the Rome Airport then taking a train to Florence. Any Idea of distance and best way with the least hassle to get from airport to train station, and approx cost. Thanks

Least hassle: Upon exiting FCO go to the Official Taxi Stand out front, the rates are set at 40 Euro to anywhere inside the city walls. Depending on traffic, about 40 mins.

Most certainty - go to the railway station at the airport, buy a ticket and take the next express train to Roma Termini.

When you get there walk to the main concourse and catch your train to Florence.

The cheapest way is using the train(Leonardo Express) which runs every 30min, and 30min is the ride - 11 euros the cost per person. Here is the link for the timetable

www.trenitalia.it/cms/v/index.jsp…

Then from Roma Termini, there are ES FRECCIA ROSSA to Florence SMN (this is the main train station) at :15 and :45 of every hour, it takes 1h35min and the cost is 44euros/2nd class ticket, 62euros/1st class ticket.

The difference between 1st and 2nd class is just they offer a drink and a newspaper, same train same timing.

Funcouple, we here in the US can use the trenitalia site, but it won't accept US cc's, you can get the schedule however.

No problem getting your ticket at the station by agent or kiosk (which does accept US cc's)

dany60 is correct, there's virtually no difference in 1st & 2nd and the newspaper you might get is in Italian.

Upon exiting the airport, atke the underpass and follow signs to the station (up two flights of stairs (escalators) and turn right. The station is tiny. Go to the ticket booths and book tickets both for the leonardo express to Roma termini and the next fast train to florence - the ticket person will know which one to give you. Upon arrival at termini, walk up the tracks look at the big electronic timetables and walk towards the track for your train to Florence. Do not walk along that track until your train has been announced (sometimes fast trains have a habit of switching track at the last minute). Not difficult really.

Bear in mind that the Leonardo Express trains arrive at the satellite tracks of Roma Termini which are a few minutes' walk back to the main tracks where the Eurostar trains usually depart from. Allow yourself some extra time in case of any train delays when booking your train to Florence. Here is a link that explains in detail on how to get train tickets at FCO. Enjoy!

First of all - as others have said - there is a train station inside Rome's Fiumicino airport.

You basically have two options to reach Florence by train from the airport:

- fast connections via Rome's Termini station (using high speed trains), about every 30 minutes, standard fare 55 euro, 2 hours 40 minutes

- slower connections via Rome's Tiburtina (using regional trains), every 2 hours, fare 21.20 euro, 4 hours 50 minutes.

So as you see - it depends whether your priority is fast service, or cheap service.

Well, I almost never have occasion to add to some advice from Anon...

If you are coming in directly from Philly you will be, most likely, coming in to the satellite terminal of Terminal C. Follow the signs for STAZIONE fs TRAIN STATION. After taking the shuttle train in to Terminal C proper, you will go upstairs and then across the walkway that also connects to the parking lots and on to the station.

If you are connecting in Europe and then flying on to Rome, you will be coming in to Terminal B. From there look for the signs that will lead to the underpass and then upstairs to the station.

Happy travels
